The last half hour of climbing, drawn
A single "elevation gain" number cannot tell you whether you are near the top. This screen plots the last thirty minutes of altitude so the climb you are on has a shape.
What it shows
- A drawn profile of the last 30 minutes of altitude
- The low and high of that window on the axis
- Total elevation gained so far
- Your current elevation
The axis labels matter more than they look: the plot always fills the height it is given, so without the window’s real low and high a flat stretch and a two-hundred-metre climb would draw identically.
Only climbing counts toward elevation gain — descents do not subtract from it — which is the same convention Garmin’s own activity recording uses.
